CALL FOR ATTENDANCE: Opening seminar of the Academy of Cultural Heritages

Opening seminar of the Academy of Cultural Heritages

To:  Greek Students of Cultural Heritages and Semiotics

The Academy of Cultural Heritages was founded last year in Helsinki to revive the idea of the Platonian academy, i.e. encounters between professors and students about study of culture in the broadest sense.

The Academy will function in the first place in Greece and Finland. In its opening seminar, which is entitled ‘The Greek Miracle’,  the Greek and Finnish specialists will deliver lectures, but also participants, students and international scholars can present their papers and research projects which are then  discussed together. The opening seminar will take place at the Island of Syros, Ermoupolis and its Municipality on Oct 2-5, 2017 and then continue in Athens at the Finnish Institute on Oct 5-8.

The Finnish and  Greek students are freed from a participation fee (which is for others 200 euros). Yet, the travels and housing must be paid by participants by themselves.  We would like to have a short CV and affiliation from you and an abstract (maximum one page), of your project you want to be dealt with in the seminar. We kindly ask you to send it to our Greek organizer and assistant Lazaros Papoutzis, University of Western Macedonia,  by  the 15th August 2017 latest, by email at

We wish you warmly welcome to this event!
